Overview

The Khao Manee (pronounced Cow Maneee) is a rare breed of cat originating in Thailand, and has an ancient ancestry which can be traced back hundreds of years. Known as the “White Gem,” the Khao Manee was through to bring good luck and was a popular breed with Thai royalty. The Khao Manee was said to be kept and bred initially by Siam royals, as was the case with other rare colored cats such as the Siamese. Breeders in Thailand are promoting and breeding the Khao Manee in the effort of preserving its lineage and breed standard. Breeders in the West are still working to promote and establish foundation lines for the Khao Manee.

The Khao Manee is a small to medium-sized breed, growing to between 10 and 12 inches and weighing between 8 and 10 pounds. Khao Manee has a muscular, athletic body, with a wedge-shaped head and large ears. The nose is prominent with a blunt, rounded tip.
